He currently serves as Majority Policy Leader and Chair of the Ocean, Marine Resources, and Hawaiian Affairs committee. In November 2017, he announced that he will run to represent Hawaii's 1st District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ing is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
