Cathy Garcia was born and raised in the Los Angeles suburbs to Mexican immigrant parents, documented and undocumented. Cathy is currently the co-chair of the Santa Fe chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, and a second-year law student at UNM School of Law. She co-chairs the National Lawyers Guild student chapter and expects to graduate in 2020. Jarrid Green is a Senior Research Associate at The Democracy Collaborative, a national research institute dedicated to developing new strategies for a more democratic economy.

Dr. Joseph Sakran is an assistant professor of surgery, director of emergency general surgery, and associate Chief of the Division of Acute Care Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. His past experience is in resource-poor settings, working with underprivileged and minority high school students, and has a public health background that has provided him with the skill-set needed to take on the challenges of improving care among vulnerable populations both domestically and abroad. As a survivor of gun violence, Joe spends a significant portion of his time as a clinician, researcher, and advocate with a primary goal of reducing firearm death and disability in America. To this end, he recently founded the organization Docs Demand Action (@docsdemand), a platform to help unite healthcare providers and provide a strong voice in ending gun violence. |

Dr. Esther Choo, MD MPH is an emergency medicine physician and Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. Her research focuses on opioid and cannabis policies, health and workforce disparities, violence, and injury. She is co-founder and CMO of Equity Quotient, which uses concrete metrics to track gender equity within organizations. She is a past president of the Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine, Senior Advisor to FeminEM.org, and President of the nonprofit Gender Equity Research Foundation. She is a national speaker on gender bias in health care and physician advocacy, and a regular contributor to SELF magazine and NBC THINK on topics related to racism and sexism |
